InStep Software, LLC has an extensive history in large-scale project management. Successful projects for our commercial clients have resulted in numerous multi-year contracts being awarded to InStep. Our focus is always on a client's organizational goals and our proven approach to project management provides for short-term milestones while ensuring that the full scope is always on target. One of the founders of InStep has extensive experience in large scale IT project management during his career in the US Navy engineering offices of the Pacific Fleet. Those projects cumulatively exceeded billion dollars, and encompassed a wide variety of Internet and network services.

Our projects with clients in the nuclear power industry have consistently passed NRC specifications and many systems have been expanded on an on-going basis for periods exceeding five years. Our company consists of over 40 software developers, plus support personnel. Our development staff consists of engineers, computer scientists, and mathematicians, with approximately half of these holding masters degrees, and several holding Ph.D.s and MBAs. Specifically, several staffers hold degrees in civil, mechanical, electrical and nuclear engineering. Two members of our staff have held Top Secret security clearances within the Department of Defense. Our developers are trained to successfully complete even the most difficult technological challenge.

InStep has developed many mission critical applications as extensions to commercially available CAD/GIS packages including MicroStation, AutoCAD and ArcView.

InStep has researched version upgrade processes for the primary engineering platforms and how they effect the overall engineering environments. We are prepared to assist our clients with transitioning complicated engineering processes and recompiling legacy file systems to keep our clientĄ¯s data in tune with most recent standards. This includes recompiling applications and existing files for MicroStation V8 from previous versions.

InStep also provides comprehensive services for training and education of our clients for those products that we have designed specifically for their use as well as the related platforms that our systems interface with. We have previously provided educational services via our sponsored UserĄ¯s Groups, in-house custom training events, structured on-site training venues, web-based support systems and presentation of papers and research at large industry events. InStep has provided training services for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on previous projects.

Because InStep Corporate history and culture has primarily revolved around the development of innovative and customized software applications, and not a standard boxed product or generalized consulting, our development background is highly accomplished. Having developed hundreds of different applications, individual case analyses have been required to review problems and projects from varied government and industry sectors. As a result, the common issues that are addressed by our products include, but are not limited to:

Properly integrating existing Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) software products that do not readily communicate with other systems in use in a department or enterprise.
Defining and developing software solutions for engineering problems for which no commercial solution already exists.
Defining and developing software solutions that are more accurate or faster than existing COTS software.
Defining and developing software solutions that represent more focused and/or cost effective approaches to issues that are currently available with COTS software.
In addition to numerous team members with web development experience of many different kinds, one of the founders of the firm has had past military experience in networked data distribution for IT organizations and large contract management for DOD/US Navy in the Pacific Rim.

InStep is the developer of products currently in use at numerous US Army Corps of Engineers facilities, including A/E/C Workspace (the original author of the File Manager and File Converter Modules), Civil Design Checker, and Document Tools.

For ten years the firm has maintained a sound fiscal footing while administrating large scale, long term contracts for both government and commercial clients involving complex applications utilizing most of the industry standard programming languages, database structures, and engineering tools.
