eDNA Services can be accessed by clients and other services via messages. Multiple messages exist, including messages for control, information exchange and administration.
eDNA Services are modules that can be installed on one server or distributed across many servers; even replicating the same Services on different servers for redundancy.
Distributing eDNA Services across many server platforms can bring an enormous amount of processing power to end users. Because of the efficiency of the message based, session-less communications protocols used throughout eDNA, distributing Services around even a large enterprise-wide network adds little additional network traffic.
eDNA Services increase reliability by providing redundancy for critical functionality. Redundancy is typically supported by primary and backup Services running on separate servers. If a primary fails, its backup takes over. Once the primary is restored, it and the acting primary coordinate to re-synchronize their respective databases and then the primary re-establishes its role as primary and the other returns to backup.
There are many types of eDNA Services and those services can be mixed and matched within a system to fit the requirements of a particular installation. Please take a moment to review the specific Service of interest to you in more detail by selecting it from the menu at the left of your screen.
Services that are provided with a basic eDNA installation are noted below.
