The eDNA client tools provide the end-user with eDNA information. eDNA
clients allow product specialist and "power users" to quickly use and analyze eDNA information. Casual users also provided with a quick and easy to use interface accessed via eDNA's web-based tools. Furthermore, all eDNA
clients are licensed for unlimited distribution - providing all users the ability to access and benefit from company real-time information.
eDNA View
eDNA View is a distributed client software program included in
the eDNA suite of real time software tools. eDNA View is normally
considered a "User" tool (client) versus an "Administrator" tool or
client. The primary purpose of eDNA View is to provide a graphical
view of information to accurately depict the current condition and
status of your plant and systems. A secondary purpose of eDNA View
is to provide a platform from which to initiate signals that control
the equipment and systems interfaced to eDNA View.
In addition to being a graphical display platform, eDNA View is
also an interface platform for other eDNA modules of for non-eDNA
modules that have been integrated with your eDNA System. eDNA View
is typically used to host access into eDNA modules such as eDNA
Trend, eDNA Alarm, and eDNA API reporting functions. eDNA View is
used to host non-eDNA systems such as radiation monitoring systems,
remote generator control systems, high speed transient data
monitoring systems, and thermal performance optimization systems.
eDNA View is a graphical display system. Graphics that represent commonly
recognized icons are used to assure easy recognition of equipment and systems.
Multiple color selections and color combinations are available to ensure that
the status of monitored parameters is accurately presented. eDNA View includes
an easy to understand and use graphics editor sub-module that can be used to
develop any representation not already available in the standard eDNA View
graphics libraries. Additionally, eDNA View is compatible with standard ActiveX
objects and with standard electronic drawing formats (bmp, jpg, etc.). ActiveX
and standard drawing objects can be inserted into and become part of an eDNA
View display.
eDNA
View includes a Visual Basic compatible scripting functionality. Additional
functionality is built into on-line or on-demand logic and analysis programs and
included as part of the icons that make up your eDNA View displays. This feature
is particularly useful when eDNA View is used as a control platform and is being
leveraged to support more efficient process control and or economical
operations.
eDNA View is provided in both a development and editing mode as well as a
full screen run-time mode of operation. When used with eDNA AppServ and placed
under security using eDNA Secure, eDNA View displays provide controlled and
configured representations for different types of systems.
eDNA View access eDNA data located anywhere on your enterprise. Adding data
points to an eDNA View icon is accomplished with a few simple mouse clicks. The
capability to access data from multiple sources allows performance comparisons
between stand alone or similar systems that may have large physical separation.
eDNA View readily accepts current value information from eDNA real time systems
or from the eDNA Calc. Status and value of each point displayed on eDNA View is
treated within a single message to ensure that notification of system states as
well as monitoring of system values is easy to understand and perform.
eDNA Excel Add-In
eDNA Excel Add-In extends commonly accessed eDNA functions and features directly onto the Microsoft Excel desktop. The eDNA Excel Add-In contains features that provide eDNA real time values, eDNA historical values, calculated averages, minimum and maximum values, and values at a specified periodicities.
eDNA Excel Add-In directly views eDNA real time values and monitors the value as it updates in your eDNA System. Excel graphs using the eDNA Excel Add-In directly import eDNA real time values. Quick and easy-to-use eDNA point selection through the full functionality of the eDNA Point Select dialog is readily accessible through the add-in. This dialog allows point search capability of point ID or point description.
At InStep Software, we don't hide the code for the eDNA Excel Add-In. The full source code for the Excel Add-In is provided allowing customization to meet unique needs. The Excel Add-In is fully compatible with the eDNA API.
eDNA further extends the power of real time data interfaced with Excel analysis features by providing fully developed and functional Excel Tools with each eDNA installation. Tools such as the Excel csv export are built into eDNA Trend. Other tools such as custom reports are easily added to eDNA View. Still other tools such as automated procedure and analysis are provided in example format or developed to custom specifications by InStep
Software experts.
eDNA ODBC Driver
The eDNA ODBC driver provides eDNA information to ODBC clients. ODBC clients such as MS Office products can access eDNA real-time and historical information using the ODBC standard. eDNA Point current value information and historical data can be quickly accessed by using standard SQL queries.
eDNA Trend
eDNA Trend is a distributed client software program included in the eDNA suite of real time software tools. eDNA Trend is normally considered a "User" tool (client) versus an "Administrator" tool or client. The primary purpose of eDNA Trend is to display historical eDNA information in a trend plot of data values. Data can be plotted as a function of time or to graph one data value against another data value.
eDNA Trend runs on local computers that communicate to your eDNA system via the optimized eDNA messaging protocol. eDNA Trend can display sixteen simultaneous eDNA points on a single trend. These points can be selected from different eDNA Historians located anywhere on your network.
eDNA Trend is network friendly. Using eDNA message centric communication, eDNA Trend communicates through your network only when you request data. eDNA Trend does not require a continuous handshake to be maintained as in non-message centric systems. Data requested for the selected eDNA data points are transmitted on the network as compressed data packets. eDNA Trend decompresses and translates these data packets on the local machine being used to run eDNA Trend. Due to the high efficiency of eDNA data communications and the effectiveness of eDNA Trend, a large volume of information is rapidly displayed using minimal network or server resources. Using the efficient data transmission eDNA Trend can effectively be used over low bandwidth network connections (modems, ISDN, etc.) while continuing to display graphs of containing thousands of values for multiple points. On faster networks, eDNA Trend is used to display millions of data values in just a few seconds time.
eDNA Trend has a user friendly and intuitive interface. Understandable controls are used to format trend output and select trend points. Trend options include:

eDNA Trend support millisecond time resolution. Using the zoom-in capability high speed transient information can be quickly identified and examined. Trend updates can be performed manually or set to automatically update.
eDNA Trend exports information to Comma Separated Value text files that can be accessed by an external viewer such as Microsoft Excel. This export functionality allows viewing of values and statuses associated with each plotted data point in an ad hoc data report. Engineers and analysts have quick and effortless access to the eDNA information using the tools and techniques they are comfortable with using.
eDNA Trend is fully integrated with eDNA View, the eDNA graphic user interface. From within eDNA View, eDNA Trend is easily launched through the use of hyperlinks. Control parameters placed in eDNA View direct the content and format of eDNA Trend displays launched in this manner. The combination of historical information available in eDNA Trend and the current value information available in eDNA View is a powerful tool that can be used to help you quickly diagnose monitored system health and status.
