eDNA Config

Real time configuration management of data points and point parameters is one of the benchmarks of a true real time system. eDNA fully supports on-line configuration manipulation. From adding new points, editing existing points, changing alarm levels, to setting new compression limits, eDNA provides the capability to access and control your configuration settings without ever shutting down your system or impacting on going operations.

Another eDNA benchmark is the capability to react to changes in the data source without having to stop and reconfigure. eDNA Administrator adjustable settings allow eDNA configurations to be updated automatically, online, if new points are added or existing point parameters monitored at the data source change. These features streamline the configuration management process and eliminate the need to develop and apply new control processes to your eDNA System.

All eDNA configuration information is maintained by a separate eDNA module called eDNA Config. This module contains the datastore that fully defines your eDNA configuration. eDNA Config is an on line eDNA module that automatically updates other eDNA services in response to configuration changes. As with all of the "Designed to be Distributed" eDNA Services, eDNA Config is a distributed module allowing access and control from anywhere in your enterprise.

Another important function of eDNA Config is to automatically maintain a set of backup configuration information to ensure redundancy and data integrity. eDNA Config maintains and updates the configuration of other eDNA Services. This guarantees that the the correct and up-to-date configuration will be used no matter where that service is running or if a service is moved from one system to a different system.

eDNA Systems often contain large numbers of data points and a high number of point configuration settings for each point. With some database systems building and initializing the database is very time consuming and tedious. eDNA utilizes an efficient loader to quickly and economically generate the entire set of eDNA configuration settings.

Information maintained in eDNA Config is readily accessible by other eDNA modules. Online reports reflecting current and accurate information as well as set point and calibration settings are often times managed through eDNA Config. Using eDNA API users easily obtain information for eDNA Config to satisfy specific needs.
