Service Provisioning
|
A leading wireless communications provider manually provisions service for the end user. An order is generated from the billing system to an IBM MqSeries queuing system. These orders are manually entered into the custom prepay platform where service is provisioned and billed. The process is error prone and timeliness of order provisioning is inconsistent.
Need:
A system that automatically processes the service orders from the MqSeries server and provisions the order in the custom prepay switch platform. This system would reduce errors, increase timeliness of service provisioning and provide reporting and analysis tools not available today.
Solution:
InStep Software developed a Java 1.1 fault-tolerant system that resides on the MQ Server. This application extracts customer orders from an IBM MQSeries queue on the MQ Server and generates the corresponding messages (requests) for submission to and subsequent processing by the prepay platform on a real time basis. Fault-tolerance is built in to insure orders are properly processed in the switch, or queued up for reprocessing. In addition, log files track every submission and confirmation notification, as well all failures that require reprocessing. The system includes alarming capabilities that will email and or page the appropriate party in the event of certain alarm parameters being met.
Benefits:
The company has a high degree of confidence that service is provisioned instantaneously, instead of manually with significant delays. In addition, reporting on transaction processing volumes, error rates and the corresponding error codes allows management to assess the health of the system. |
